NewsHow You Can Respond to the Haitian EarthquakeThis Sunday, you are invited to make a special offering to help UMCOR ( The United Methodist Committee on Relief ) in the Haitian emergency response effort. To designate an offering for the Haiti Emergency, simply note on the offering envelope and/or check: Haiti Disaster Response UMCOR Advance #418325.In addition to giving financially, you are also invited to help us prepare Health Kits that will be sent to UMCOR and used in this response effort. In the Gathering Area you will find designated baskets that have been set up to receive completed Health Kits and/or items that make up a Health Kit. We will be collecting the kits through February. The items that go into a health kit include: 1 hand towel (15" x 25" up to 17" x 27") 1 washcloth 1 comb (large and sturdy, not pocket-sized) 1 nail file or fingernail clippers (no emery boards or toenail clippers) 1 bath-size bar of soap (3 oz. and up) 1 toothbrush (single brushes only in original wrapper, No child-size brushes) 6 adhesive plastic strip sterile bandages (BandAids) Place these items inside a sealed one-gallon plastic bag. Important: Please do not include any religious, political or patriotic notes or emblems in any kit. Each Wednesday , “The Dittos” bible study will be assembling and packaging the health kits from the donated items received. Let us ask God to watch over, provide for and lead all the persons on the ground in Haiti who are responding to the needs of the people and all of the servant teams preparing to go to Haiti to help as well .
