Music Ministry

Chancel Bells will begin rehearsing August 18th from 6:00-7:15 p.m. New members are always welcomed. The bell choir will participate in worship services once a month and will play for special holiday services as well. Substitute ringers are also needed at times. Chancel Bells will also participate in the District V Handbell festival in March in Covington, Kentucky as well as play for area nursing homes. Please contact Becky Parsons if you would like to become a member of this enthusiastic group of ringers.

Chancel Choir will also begin Wednesday, August 18th from 7:15 to 8:30 p.m. The choir will sing 3 Sundays a month for the 11:00 traditional service. They will also participate in special holiday services throughout the year. The choir sings a variety of styles of music from classical to traditional, as well as an occasional contemporary piece. New members are encouraged to join and be a part of a wonderful group of caring, supportive musicians. Please contact Becky Parsons for further information if desired.

Music opportunities for children and youth are also available. Children's choirs rehearse on Sundays from 12:15-1:30. Ring and Sing rehearse on Wednesday evenings from 5:00-6:00. Snacks and games are also a part of the rehearsals, as well as prayer time. Join us for an hour of music and fellowship.

Ring & Sing

The group will continue participating in the fall, beginning with a bell camp in August to prepare. Youth in grades 4-8 will learn to read notes on a staff and rhythmic passages. Participants will learn vocal and ringing techniques, as well as recorder playing. Youth Handbell Camp will be held August 12th and 13th in the music room. The camp will be held from 9:00 a.m. to noon. Join us for a time of fun, fellowship and music! 

Each Sunday, the Contemporary service is lead by our enthusiastic praise band. They participate in the 9:40 service and practice each Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. Please contact Beth Sonnenberg to arrange an audition time or for more information.

Music ministry is a wonderful way to lead worship and praise God on Sunday mornings. There are many opportunities to serve LUMC in this way.
